5The Perfect Stroller
By Smart Mama
For the first few months after my daughter was born I used the Snugrider infant car seat stroller frame. This worked great and I recommend it to everyone (don't waste your money or your trunk space with a clunky travel system) It was so nice to simply move my sleeping baby around in her car seat and not wake her. But once she hit 4 months old I realized that she was just too heavy to be lugging around in a car seat. Plus, she was really starting to dislike her infant seat and would rather be sitting up and looking around. So the search for the perfect stroller began.I looked at what seemed like hundreds of strollers both in stores and online. Most were cheap, clunky, heavy or just plain ugly. I narrowed it down to a few contenders including:-City Mini by Baby Jogger. Loved it but it was a little heavy and the seat doesn't have a really upright position (my daughter likes to sit very upright). It was also fairly wide and I was afraid it might be hard to get in and out of narrow store aisles. For me, this would be a great additional stroller, but it just wasn't the everyday use stroller I was looking for.-Chicco Liteway. Overall great stroller for the price. Good canopy, good handling, pretty good handle height, decent basket. It was actually fairly similar to the Peg Perego Si in style and features only it's like a mini version of it. My baby is VERY tall for her age (29 inches at 5 mos) and the Chicco's seat back was MUCH lower than the Si and the harness slots don't go up too high. The seat was also much narrower. If your baby is on the shorter side then check this stroller out, but for tall parents/tall babies it's a no go.-Maclarens. I feel like I have to include Maclarens because everyone raves about them but I have never been a fan. While they are lightweight and easy to maneuver I found them to be overrated and overpriced for what you get. They have awful sun canopies, small baskets, are way too short and they tip with bags on handles. Please people, there are other strollers besides Maclarens!-Keekaroo Karoo- I actually purchased this one first because of the price but hated it and returned it (see review if interested)I went back and forth on purchasing the Si (mainly because I wasn't sure if the price was justified) but decided to take the plunge and get it. I've had it for about 2 weeks now and can honestly say I love it!Pros:-Awesome canopy! Totally adjustable so that no matter where the sun is my daughter is shielded. It opens and closes easily on a spring-no annoying hinges to lock and unlock. I also like that you can unsnap the back for ventilation.-Very easy to open and close, even one handed. It also stands when closed-a plus when juggling bags and baby-Great color. I bought the Kiwi color and I love it. Note: the coordinating color (back of canopy and edging on seat) of the stroller is a very dark green and not black as it may appear in picture. I wasn't sure about the combo when I first opened the box but I really like it now and I think it'll hide dirt better than if it were black.-Big basket. Holds a lot and easy to get bags in and out from sides. Note: I have the 2010 model and I think the basket has been improved from the 2009 model because I haven't had any problem with it dragging on the ground.-Adjustable handles. No slouching or kicking the wheels. There are also bag hooks which I love.-Recline is easy to do but does require 2 hands (I can kinda do it one handed, but not easily). It goes almost completely flat. My daughter will actually sleep in this stroller! Also makes a great place to change her diaper-Seat is very cushiony but the real plus is that it has padded side wings. I didn't find this on many strollers and I really like this. Makes naps and wobbly heads much more safe and comfortable. My daughter seems so comfortable and loves to ride in it. She even has fallen asleep in it a few times and she is very picky about where she naps.-the 2010 model has a front bar that I wasn't sure I would like or need but my daughter loves it. It's perfect for her to put her feet up on now and when she's bigger I think she'll like to hold onto it. It also is nice to clip toys and rings to to keep her entertained. It is soft and flexable and also removeable.-Very sturdy and great maneuverability. I can push one handed and it rides very smooth. Also, it doesn't tip over when empty, even with my heavy diaper bag on it. I can't attest to it's long term durability but it seems well made from quality materials. I have not experienced any problems with wheel rattle even when pushing very fast.-harness is easy to snap and unsnap and has great padded neck guards-Plenty of room to grow. My daughter is tall for her age and I don't worry about her outgrowing this. The seat back is very high and there are lots of harness slots left to grow into.-the actual seat is higher than lots of strollers. This means more space for your feet when walking but also my daughter is higher up from ground. It's great for pulling her up next to us at a restaurant and I also don't feel as paranoid about her getting hit with shopping bagsCons:-the cupholder is a joke. It's tiny and flimsy and fell off the first time I put the stroller in my trunk. I threw it out and purchased the Sunshine Kids Accessory buggy and it works perfect. I like being able to have somewhere to toss my keys and cell phone as well as keep my drink and her bottle handy. And it folds easily with it still attached-It doesn't fold as tiny nor is it as lightweight as some umbrella strollers but it is also 100 times better than most umbrella strollers. This wasn't really a con for me but worth noting for those looking for a truly light stroller. It is still much lighter that most of the strollers I looked at (I think it's about 16 lbs)Bottom line: I love this stroller but most importantly my daughter loves it. So stop researching and buy this stroller! It is worth every penny

5The perfect travel stroller without losing beloved necessities.
By C. Caballero
Everyone has needs that need to be met when choosing a stroller. One's must-have features are not necessarily someone else's. Here are mine and these are the reasons I purchased the Peg Perego Si stroller:1) Handlebar adjustability. My husband is almost a foot taller than me so this feature is a necessity for either of us to participate in pushing our little one.2) Lightweight. I must be able to load the folded stroller with one hand into the car trunk.3) One-hand fold. I need to be able to fold the stroller in 5 seconds or less, with one hand and stand upright (see #4).4) Must stand when folded. We travel quite a bit with different climates and terrains. In and out of subways and buses, wheeling in and out of airport terminals. For such a price, I shouldn't have to bend to pick up or try to look for a spot to lean the stroller against. We've folded this stroller with snow, rain and mud on the ground and our stroller has remained clean because it remains upright when folded.5) Carriage space. We usually travel expecting to be out the entire day seeing sites and sounds. This means we need to be prepared for climate changes and food needs. We usually pack layered clothing and a light folding ice chest when out and about. Of course, there's the usual travel maps, travel books, my own jacket and souvenirs purchased throughout the day.6) Canopy coverage. A good stroller canopy must cover the eyes even when the sun is low on the horizon.7) Rain cover. Most strollers come with fitted rain covers. If not, there are generic rain covers that can be purchased. Rain cover also acts as a wind shield for those very breezy days.8) One hand push. Depends on the pusher's habits. I drink coffee when I push the stroller so I sometimes push with one hand. Not a dealbreaker though.9) Must be able to fold with a stroller blanket attached. A lot of strollers cannot fold with the stroller blanket attached (like say JJ Cole blankets). The nature of the fold requires that nothing is in the seat otherwise, it's too thick for the latching mechanism to lock. I find that installing and uninstalling the blanket every time we use it would be a pain. Most of the people I have spoken with who have blankets with strollers which cannot fold with the blanket end up chucking the blanket. They just end up using a blanket that's not attached to the stroller. Then their child ends up pulling or kicking off the blanket.10) Reclines to flat or almost flat. I like strollers that fold almost flat because I use it in lieu of a changing room, particularly when there is a line into the changing room. I have found this to be an extremely useful feature.11) Must not tilt back when stroller has no occupant and there's a heavy diaper bag hanging on the handlebars.Early this month, at the beginning of Jan. 2010, we went on a trip to DC. It just so happened that the Arctic wind decided to blow over the East Coast with record low temperatures and high winds. Lucky us. While my husband attended conferences, I was left with our son doing day trips to the museums and monuments/memorials. Up and down the elevators, escalators, pushing on icy, snowy sidewalks on 29F degree weather accompanied with high winds. Appropriately dressed, my son sat snugly in his stroller inside a stroller blanket, an ice chest for his milk and snacks tucked neatly underneath and a diaper bag hanging on the back for a full day's worth of supplies. Plus, all the museums we visited had security checks (DC and all) so I had to remove our stuff, run them through the security x-ray, fold the stroller quickly with the blanket, run it through x-ray, unfold and re-load gear and my son on it. PIECE OF CAKE!This is an excellent travel stroller. Heck, this is an excellent stroller - travel or not. What a great addition to our baby gear. I am extremely happy with this purchase. While this is not our only stroller, this is our de facto travel stroller and will be until our son outgrows it. I am looking forward to taking our son and this stroller to more adventurous trips. Awesome job, Peg Perego. Keep it up!

5Surprised - I Love It So Far
By Saabgrrl
My husband and I have been looking for a stroller since I was pregnant. My baby is now going on 6 months old and we finally decided today to buy the Peg Perego Si. I wanted ONE stroller to do everything, but honestly I don't think that's possible. We seriously considered the Bumbleride Indie and the Quinny Buzz, but realized they were just out of our price range at the end of the day. So then we narrowed it down to the Baby Jogger City Mini and the Peg Perego Vela. However today the salesman convinced us the Si was the way to go. In the end, it had the features I required: lightweight, something for everyday, something that'll fit in our small trunk, nice-sized basket, comfortable seat for LO (really important!), adjustable handles for my 6'5" hubby (he doesn't kick the wheels) and came standard ; with a cupholder and "baby bar" (or whatever that bar is called). It's easy to fold and open too; and the canopy is HUGE (love it!). We tested it out today going shopping and my baby loved facing forward for the first time! :)The thing that clinched it for us -- because I had my mind set on a 3-wheel, jogging type of stroller (even tho I don't jog) - is the wheels are hard rubber and it has a suspension system. Aside from shopping, we'll need to take it to the ballpark for my stepson's baseball games. Haven't tested it on gravel yet, but the front wheels lock so that should help (that and the suspension). (My snap and go on the gravel was disastrous!!) If I ever decide to start running again, I'm going to allow myself to get a cheap(er) or second hand jogging stroller, but the reality is I'm not doing that right now. Also I love that the seat reclines. Perfect for the fussy baby who needs a nap! (We tested that out today as well).I actually went into this wanting a one-handed stroller. I have never been a fan of the umbrella handles. But after a day of actually using the thing, I have to say, I'm a convert! And my baby is still small enough that I can actually maneuver the thing with one hand if necessary. We went to a bunch of stores today and the thing turns on a dime much like the 3-wheeled kind.PS. My stroller doesn't squeak at ALL. It's whisper quiet and a VERY VERY smooth ride. Also I stuffed my diaper bag and two small bags from Target and Buy Buy Baby into the basket and it did not drag on the ground. Hopefully it will not stretch out and start doing that. Only time will tell at this point.
